A week has pass already since the first day of school. My son seems tired all the time whenever he comes home from school. He doesn’t look happy at all. It make me wonder if he likes his new school or not. Being the new kid is pretty tough in his age. It would take time to get adjusted and to have friends in school. Especially the case of my kuya who is very shy and so timid, he is the type that would wait for somebody to talk to him and make friends.
I asked him today if he like his new school, he said Yes. I asked him also if he like his teacher, he said yes again. Then I asked him if somebody is bother him in school cause he doesnt look happy, he said No. Then I asked him if he has friends already, and he said No with a sad face. :-(. It sure made me feel sad, and I dont know how to fix his problem. I just told him that he should say Hi to everyone, or to the boy that is sitted next to him when he get in to his class. And always smile to his classmates so they will start talking to him. But I’m not sure if he is gonna do it, as I said earlier he is a very shy boy. I talk to hubby about this, he said that its only the first week of school, and that I shouldnt worry so much, because its natural that he will feel that way. Sooner or later he will have friends and will enjoy school even more. Well.. I hope so! Cause I hate to see him like this.
I hope my kuya will have friends in his school soon, so he will not feel sad when he comes home.
How time fly so fast? It’s September already and its the second week of school. My student has been doing pretty good since the first day of school. He said he loves it, his teacher is very nice, and he likes riding the school bus with the kids from school. I am really happy for him. I hope nobody will bother him, or bully him so he will enjoy school even more.
Today, he stayed home, because its Labor Day. I almost forgot that today is a Holiday, good thing I found the school calendar laying on the floor and decided to check it out, before waking him up to get ready for school.
Since school is out today, I was planning to take my kids to the park where they could play, but when I looked outside, the weather said that its not a good idea to go to the park. Oh well, maybe next time. So we just stayed indoor all day, watching some educational shows on TV, playing some games, and coloring some pictures in a coloring book. I am proud to say, my little toddler is getting better in coloring! Hurray! I am so happy that he was able to color a whole picture all by himself already! Usually he cant finished it, and he would complain like: ‘ I’m so tired Mum Mum, I’m so tired of coloring’. But I got him motivated by coloring with him, and showing him how beautiful it is, if he finish his work. Check out some of his work below. Isn’t it amazing! With a little bit more practice, he can color within the lines. 🙂
Here he is seriously coloring his Caillou Coloring Book.
Is’nt it great to see your kids improving? No matter how little it is, as a parent, its an achievement. It makes me a proud Mama.:-)
Well, that was our Labor Day. How about you? What did you do on Labor Day?
I had been so busy this past few days that I was not able to update this blog for a week, forgive me if I’m very slow, but there are more important things to tend to such as preparing the things needed for my eldest first day of school. Last week, I talked about the open house of my son’s school and was able to meet his new teacher. After a few days from the open house, we received a letter from his teacher, telling us the things that JJ need to bring with him on his first day of school. Here is what she wants JJ to bring…
She only required a few stuff which is good, that means the school will provide the school supplies that are not listed here such as pencils, erasers, art stuff, notebooks and more. We have everything that is in the list already, the only thing I did is to looked for them in the basement where all the school stuff is. Because when we moved in this house 2 months ago, we stack most of our stuff in the basement. Finding them made me feel so weary. I also prepared my son’s lunches by making a menu for the week, so that it will be easy for me in the morning, and make sure that he will have healthy lunch everyday. Its mostly sandwich though, cause its easier to make. I bought different kinds of Ham such as Turkey, Chicken, and Pork.I also bought some goodies like cookies, box juices, and cheeses. 🙂 Maybe I will search later in the internet on whats the best lunches to pack for kids that way I have idea what to pack.
Anyhow, School just started last Tuesday, my 2nd grader cant simply hide his excitement. I was very excited for him too. I think he will do a great job in school.
Yesterday was my son’s new school open house. Its when the new students and parents get the chance to explore the school, familiarize with the facilities, check out the classrooms, and meet the new teacher for the first time. The school was not as big as Jians previous school, it was all in one floor which is a good thing, I dont have to worry about him falling or tripping down the stairs. They have pretty much of everything like any other school here in US. They have a big cafeteria, a big gym for playing indoor, and a big yard that has a playground and ball fields, which got my kids so excited when they saw it yesterday. 🙂
This school is used to be grade 5-6 only, now they are open for grade K- 6. Its the first year of the school to open from K-4, so everybody is new in this establishment except for those who are gonna be in 6th grade of course. Also the teachers are new. I was able to meet Jians new teacher yesterday. She seems very nice. A petite lady who is in her early 50’s I believed. I hope she is not as strict as my Chemistry teacher when I was in high school . hehehe.
Anyhow, my kids were so excited to look around, checking out where is the restroom, the lockers, the library, and stuff. Before we left the building, we spotted some wall paintings. I thought its pretty cool. Check out the photos below.
Arent they pretty? Theres more like this in every corner. I think the students painted it, because there are names on the creatures on the 2nd photo. 🙂 . I sure love their creativeness. I cant wait for my Kuya to learn all this stuff.
First day of school is fast approaching here in the East Coast. My 2nd grader is pretty much excited to attend to his new school, meet new friends, and ride the school bus. As a worry wart parent, I am excited and at the same time worried. People had been telling me that he is gonna be okay, and that kids adjust easily in their surroundings. Well, I dont know about that, because it took my son 1 year to get used to in his old school, so I am hoping and praying that he will be okay, and the experienced of being bullied last year is already forgotten. I also hope that I will not received a letter like this(photos below) again. =DThis was last year, when he was in 1st grade. I was looking for his old paper works and found this letter, so I thought I would share it here. It didnt make me mad though, in fact it made me laugh. hehehe. The teacher made him wrote this one, because he didnt went inside the classroom when the bell rang, that break time was over. I talked to Jian about it, that its important to listen, follow his teacher, and be aware of his surroundings. I remembered he listened to me intentively, and when there was a Parent-Teachers meeting, I asked his teacher about it, if he is still doing it, and she said ‘No, he hasnt been doing it anymore.’ I was glad though. It probably sinked in finally. I hope he remembers all the lessons that he learned from 1st grade, so that he will not have any problem in his new school. But you know kids are kids. If they get excited of something, they forget the other thing. 🙂
