Things to bring on the First Day

I had been so busy this past few days that I was not able to update this blog for a week, forgive me if I’m very slow, but there are more important things to tend to such as preparing the things needed for my eldest first day of school. Last week,ย  I talked about the open house of my son’s school and was able to meet his new teacher. After a few days from the open house, we received a letter from his teacher, telling us the things that JJ need to bring with him on his first day of school. Here is what she wants JJ to bring…Photobucket

ย She only required a few stuff which is good, that means the school will provide the school supplies that are not listed here such as pencils, erasers, art stuff, notebooks and more. We have everything that is in the list already, the only thing I did is to looked for them in the basement where all the school stuff is. Because when we moved in this house 2 months ago, we stack most of our stuff in the basement. Finding them made me feel so weary.ย  I also prepared my son’s lunches by making a menu for the week, so that it will be easy for me in the morning, and make sure that he will have healthy lunch everyday. Its mostly sandwich though, cause its easier to make. I bought different kinds of Ham such as Turkey, Chicken, and Pork.I also bought some goodies like cookies, box juices, and cheeses. ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe I will search later in the internet on whats the best lunches to pack for kids that way I have idea what to pack.

Anyhow,ย  School just started last Tuesday, my 2nd grader cant simply hide his excitement. I was very excited for him too. I think he will do a great job in school.

School Open House

Yesterday was my son’s new school open house. Its when the new students and parents get the chance to explore the school, familiarize with the facilities, check out the classrooms, and meet the new teacher for the first time.ย  The school was not as big as Jians previous school, it was all in one floor which is a good thing, I dont have to worry about him falling or tripping down the stairs. They have pretty much of everything like any other school here in US. They have a big cafeteria, a big gym for playing indoor, and a big yard that has a playground and ball fields, which got my kids so excited when they saw it yesterday. ๐Ÿ™‚

This school is used to be grade 5-6 only, now they are open for grade K- 6. Its the first year of the school to open from K-4, so everybody is new in this establishment except for those who are gonna be in 6th grade of course. Also the teachers are new. I was able to meet Jians new teacher yesterday. She seems very nice. A petite lady who is in her early 50’s I believed. I hope she is not as strict as my Chemistry teacher when I was in high school . hehehe.

Anyhow, my kids were so excited to look around, checking out where is the restroom, the lockers, the library, and stuff. Before we left the building, we spotted some wall paintings. I thought its pretty cool. Check out the photos below.

Jians Letter

First day of school is fast approaching here in the East Coast. My 2nd grader is pretty much excited to attend to his new school, meet new friends, and ride the school bus. As a worry wart parent, I am excited andย  at the same time worried. People had been telling me that he is gonna be okay, and that kids adjust easily in their surroundings. Well, I dont know about that, because it took my son 1 year to get used to in his old school, so I am hoping and praying that he will be okay, and the experienced of being bullied last year is already forgotten. I also hope that I will not received a letter like this(photos below) again. =DPhotobucketPhotobucketThis was last year, when he was in 1st grade. I was looking for his old paper works and found this letter, so I thought I would share it here. It didnt make me mad though, in fact it made me laugh. hehehe. The teacher made him wrote this one, because he didnt went inside the classroom when the bell rang, that break time was over. I talked to Jian about it, that its important to listen, follow his teacher, and be aware of his surroundings. I remembered he listened to me intentively, and when there was a Parent-Teachers meeting, I asked his teacher about it, if he is still doing it, and she said ‘No, he hasnt been doing it anymore.’ I was glad though. It probably sinked in finally. I hope he remembers all the lessons that he learned from 1st grade, so that he will not have any problem in his new school. But you know kids are kids. If they get excited of something, they forget the other thing. ๐Ÿ™‚

Enrolment Day

I apologize for not updating this blog for a couple of weeks, my family and I had been caught up with our daily do’s. Recently we just had a 3 day vacation in Virginia Beach, and was offline for a couple of days. I had been trying to catch up with my blogging career and now that I’m almost back, I would like to share the day when I enrolled my 2nd grader in his New school. Forgive me for not mentioning the name of the school that he is going to for personal privacy, and to protect my children.

Anyways, it was a great sunny day when I took my son to his new school to register him. The school here in US are not as strict as in Phil that needs to have good morals documents and etch., they only asked for the birth certificate, shots records, and proof of residency. Pretty easy huh? As for the school records, I don’t have to worry about that because they will just asked the old school to send them his records, that’s how convenient it is here. Since I don’t have his shots records, the lady said that its no problem cause they can asked the Nurse of the old school to fax to them. I was like.. ok, cool! hehehe.. After that, he was already enrolled. Easy as a pie isnt it? I know in Phil, its very tough, you have to enroll your kids like every year, unlike here in US, you only do it ones, or if you transfer to a new school; then they will just mail you every year on what room you are in, and who is your teacher, and some other information such as school Bus schedule drop and pickup, school rules and regulations, and whats the menu for this week’s lunch, very convenient for parents aye? But of course as a parent, its our duty to monitor our kids progress in school. I am very happy that I got all the time in the world to do that. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyhow, below is a photo of my kids in the school office. The little one wants to go to school too, as you can see he is very excited and so happy about it. Well, sad to say, you have to wait when your 5 years old boy, because we are here for your Kuya Jian. As of now, mommy will be your teacher. ๐Ÿ˜€
